Our Services
Information is power. K Prime testing services provide reliable information for attorneys, manufacturers, and engineers on the presence of regulated substances in everyday products, foods, fabrics, supplements, personal care products, cosmetics, air, water, and soil.
PFAS in Consumer Products:
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a group of man-made chemicals that are widely used in various consumer products for their water and grease resistance properties.
Testing for PFAS in consumer products involves analyzing items such as textiles, waterproof fabrics, non-stick coatings, cleaning products, and personal care items to determine the presence and levels of PFAS compounds.
PFAS in Foods and Food Packaging:
PFAS can migrate from food packaging materials into the food itself, raising concerns about potential human exposure. Additionally, PFAS can enter the food chain through contaminated water and soil used for food production.
Due to the extreme sensitivity of modern instrumentation and the ubiquitous nature of PFAS, false positives have plagued laboratory users, wasting time and money. Experience and care during method validation, sample preparation, analysis and final data review are key to successful testing projects.
Testing for Heavy Metals in Foods:
Heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium are naturally occurring in soil and water and can also be introduced by human activities. Metals can be present in food samples due to natural uptake by crops and due to subsequent processing. Testing for heavy metals in foods requires extremely sensitive instrumentation, and careful attention to background contamination and quality control.

BPA Testing
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical compound commonly found in plastic products and food containers. Our BPA testing methods employ state-of-the-art techniques to detect and quantify BPA levels in various samples. By accurately measuring BPA concentrations, we provide valuable data to help assess potential BPA exposure.
Acrylamide Testing
Acrylamide is a chemical formed during high-temperature cooking processes, particularly in starchy foods like potato chips and bread. Our acrylamide testing procedures enable precise measurement and analysis of acrylamide levels in food products.
Prop 65 Testing
California Proposition 65, also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, mandates the identification and labeling of substances known to cause cancer or reproductive harm. Our testing services focus on the detection and measurement of Prop 65 listed chemicals in various types of samples.
Phthalates Testing
Phthalates are a group of chemicals used in the production of plastics and consumer products. K Prime’s phthalate testing protocols enable the accurate identification and quantification of phthalate compounds in various materials consumer products, foods and packaging. The ability of a laboratory to distinguish regulated phthalates from “designer” phthalates and other plasticizers is key to determining compliance with regulatory standards.
AB-1200 Testing
Under California’s AB-1200, also known as the Toxic-Free Food Packaging and Cookware Act, PFAS and other compounds are newly regulated in cookware and food packaging. K Prime assists manufacturers and their attorneys in establishing compliance with this new regulation. Learn more about AB-1200.
Exposure Assessment
K Prime works with toxicologists and attorneys to support exposure simulations used in risk assessment. Examples include studies of product off gassing, direct product wipes, wipe and leachate testing using simulated sweat and other simulants.
Air Testing
Concerns for potential vapor intrusion due to contaminated soil and groundwater under buildings is a major driver for indoor air and soil vapor testing. K Prime provides highest quality sampling supplies and analysis for comparing site conditions relative to current Environmental Screening Level thresholds (ESL’s). K Prime supports perimeter air testing during demolition, remediation and construction projects including test for VOCs, SVOCs, PCBs and Metals.
Ultra Trace-Level Analysis
Ultra trace-level analysis involves highly sensitive techniques designed to detect and quantify minute amounts of substances in diverse matrices. Our advanced instrumentation and expertise in ultra trace-level analysis allow for the identification and measurement of low-level contaminants, facilitating risk assessment and regulatory compliance in various industries. Concentrations of interest continue to decrease placing increasing demands on data users to find laboratories that can meet their needs. K Prime is known as the go-to-lab that can achieve the low detection limits whether in water, soil, or air. K Prime’s unique instrumentation and skilled chemists are up to the challenge.

Extensive List of Compounds Tested
With around 1,000 compounds listed in Prop 65 and even more in AB-1200, K Prime has implemented testing methods for an extensive list of compounds to address our clients’ needs. New regulations continue to be enacted outside of these two California regulations and our list of tests we offer continues to grow in response.
Much more than just offering a long list of compounds, K Prime has the deep experience and resources to answer questions, solve problems, and contribute to successful testing projects.
